What's This?

Most people never reach their goals because they get discouraged and stop just inches away from that goal’s phenomenal completion.

In his book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill shares a story about R.U. Darby’s uncle who was caught up in "gold rush fever" and went west to dig.

After weeks of labor, he was rewarded with the discovery of shiny ore. Needing machinery to bring the ore to the surface, he quietly covered his find, and left to purchase the machinery. When he returned to the site, he discovered . . . that the vein of gold ore had disappeared!

He drilled for weeks trying to pick up the vein, then quit in utter discouragement, selling his machinery to a junk man. The junk man hired an engineer to study the mine and, together, they discovered that Darby had stopped just three feet short of one of the richest gold veins ever discovered in North America.

Just like Darby, most people get discouraged and give up on their goals just a hair’s breadth away from incredible success!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

“You have to know when to hold ‘em, know when to fold ‘em, know when to walk away, and know when to run.”
Kenny Rogers, “The Gambler”

Persistence sounds good on paper, but what about the real world? How do you know that “giving up” is not the right thing to do? The most successful people on the planet are also some of the most stubborn. They don’t take no for an answer. They aren’t easily swayed by failure. They make decisions quickly and intuitively, but change those decisions slowly if at all. If making decisions isn’t your strong suit, here are some tips for making choices that stick to you so you’ll stick to them.

1. “I know where I am going.” Success and progress towards achieving your goals in life begin with having a definite purpose. All decisions you make will be correct when you align with that purpose.

2. “I am sucessful.” Always see yourself as capable. Never doubt your ability to accomplish your objective.

3. “My word is my bond.” Always keep your word, thereby your integrity. Don’t say yes to something unless you are prepared to follow through.

4. “I am Master of my emotions.” Decisions based on emotional discomfort are not likely to stick. Emotions pass, but the impact of your decision may not. Emotional attachment to an idea may very well be an indication of the passion and commitment you will bring to it’s implementation, but make sure the rest of you is in alignment before you make the commitment.

5. “I am positive.” A positive mind always finds a way to get it done while a negative mind always looks for ways it can’t be done. Make sure you are utilizing a positive mental attitude which will attract opportunities to you.

6. “I am flexible” Opportunities for success don’t always walk right in the front door and introduce themselves. Opportunity often comes from the most unexpected places. Be flexible and willing to see them when they appear.

7. “I am always in the right place, doing the right thing, at the right time.” Know that whatever situation comes your way, you will always do the right thing towards the right outcome.

8. “I am healthy and strong.” Treasure your health and take every step within your power to maintain your physical well-being. Do not allow illness to be an excuse for failure.

9. “I am enthusiastic.” Your enthusiasm fuels your idea forward when all other resources are expended. Your enthusiasm is contagious and attracts others to support your goals.

10. “I am self-disciplined.” Self-discipline is the controlling factor for every action you take. Without it you are like a ship adrift without a rudder, compass, or sail. You are completely at the mercy of the forces of nature that are free to toss you into whatever direction they may be going.

Read this list every day, and tattoo these affirmations upon your subconscious mind. If you are having trouble reaching or sticking to a decision, read them over and over until you know what the right thing to do is.

Don’t Worry, Make Money:
Spiritual and Practical Ways to Create Abundance and More Fun in Your Life
by Richard Carlson
I originally bought this book for my husband, hoping to introduce him slowly to the concepts I was learning and implementing in my life, but very soon found myself reading it too.

“From the bestselling coauthor of Handbook for the Soul and Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff comes a collection of 100 short essays that feature brilliant strategies for achieving financial success by giving up stress, worry, anger, and fear. I still read one of these essays nearly every day for inspiration, and motivation.

Carlson tells us “accept the fact that you can make excuses, or you can make money, but you can’t do both.” Often we get into the trap of thinking that the only way to earn a good living is to stay late at the office, feeling stressed out and full of anxiety. However, this can actually get in the way of having a productive and rewarding career, and can drastically decrease our earnings.”

Creating True Prosperity
by Shakti Gawain

Personal-growth expert Shakti Gawain redefines prosperity in a moving testament to the power of fulfilling the soul. Gawain, author of Creative Visualization, presents a new definition of prosperity, one that recognizes the true importance of fulfillment of the heart and soul rather than of monetary gain.
Dynamic Laws of Prosperity
by Catherine Ponder

Catherine Ponder takes you step by step to the awareness necessary to create your own reality. She discusses prosperity, love, and healing and gives you ways to create your own affirmations with an awareness of intent. She explains the theory behind “creating a vaccum” and relates many inspiring stories that continue to uplift me when I feel stuck, or that I just don’t get it.

Sometimes it's hard to have perspective when it comes to finances. It's such a huge, heavy thing for so many of us and the anxiety can be enormous. Staying grounded in the present moment can be challenging. Remembering to be grateful for what you have rather than longing for what you don't have can seem like an impossible task...Do it anyway. It's really the only way to fill the vaccum created by your desire. Be satisfied and happy no matter what your account balance and the universe will reward you with reasons to be satisfied and happy.

Namaste!

Excerpt from Planting the
Money Tree

Who says money doesn’t grow on trees . . . it’s made of paper right? Money. We are all so worried about making it and spending it, but what does money really give us?

Sense of Security, Freedom, Power, Happiness? Aren’t those things that money cannot buy? What is money really? Money is representative of your time, energy, intellect, and luck, but it is really none of those things, and if you are not clear, money can drain you of your time, talent, and energy and leave a pretty empty hole in it’s place.

But we need money to survive. O.K., so money is not the root of all evil. We like money. We want more of it. So what do we do? Plant The Money Tree of course!

The Money Tree
A Money Tree is a metaphor for the creative process involved in growing your money consciousness. What does growing money consciousness have to do with growing your bank account? A lot more than most people think. Success in any area of our lives begins with thoughts. Thoughts control our actions. Actions soon become habits. Habits shape lives. Emerson, Troward, and Holmes, all Early pioneers of the new thought movement in the 20th Century articulated this principle, although it is really nothing new. Thousands of years earlier Solomon wrote: “Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts,” and later Jesus said, “It is done unto you as you believe.”

Getting Down to The Roots
Since I first discovered these principles at work in my life, I realized the universal truth is, what you put your attention on grows. I soon realized I no longer wished to grow more of the same experiences I had been having up to that point. One of those experiences was a chronic lack of money. I knew I needed to translate my newly discovered principles of life to my finances. At the time, I was deep in debt. (read more)

Many Happy Returns
Titheing is the ancient practice of giving 10% of your gross (yes, gross) income to your spiritual source. Yes this can be scary, but try it anyway. Start small if you need to. Try 5%, or even 1%. Give away all the stuff you no longer need in your life. Make room for the abundance.

What we are enacting here is the Law of Circulation. This is nothing new to most people, as the law of circulation governs things outside of money, such as “what goes around, comes around.” The Truth about the law of circulation is this: Nature abhors a vacuum. What you give returns to you multiplied. If you give kindness and love, kindness and love returns multiplied (i.e.,the Golden Rule). Equally, if you give money, money returns to you multiplied.

Very early on, before I discovered the spiritual principles that governed such things, I decided that I needed a computer. I was pregnant with my second child and desperately looking for some way to be a stay-at-home mom. I had only worked in food service and waitress positions, but I felt a certain kinship with the computer, and I found I had a talent for design. Keep in mind that this was well before Windows, and well before the desktop publishing revolution. Computers were slower and stupider then, and they cost a fortune! There was no way my small family could afford to buy me a computer.

I decided to clear off my desk...to make a space for a computer. I cut out a picture of a computer and put it on my refrigerator. I told everyone I knew that I wanted a computer. I essentially created a vaccum in my life. There was a hole that needed to be filled, and about a month later, a computer showed up on my doorstep! A relative decided to buy it for me, and it arrived one day out of the blue. I was ready for it!

So many things have shown up in my life in the very same way. Cars, expensive software, trips, a piano...even a hot tub! And trust me...I don't have a lot of rich relatives tucked away...these things have come to me in the strangest ways and I am firmly convinced that if you let the universe know you are willing, spirit always finds a way. So dig that hole and make it deep, and you will be filled with all your hearts desires.
